People living in cities or away from their country are faced with doubts regarding rules of Dharmasastras in the performance of festivals and rituals  The book Dhramasindhu, in Sanskrit, authored by Kasinathopadhyaya, in the year 1712 Saka Era, gives concise information on Hindu rituals and festivals. Dr Rajagopal Iyer  have translated into English and published this book in an  attempt to present our ancient books to the members of the present generation. The book is in Three volumes

Vol I gives Tithi and Vrata Nirnaya and Procedures for Pujas during various festivals. 

Volume II gives the Sixteen samskaras, their procedures, selecting muhurtam for these and also the daily rituals 

Volume III gives the various aspects of Last rites ,  sraddha performance and Sannyasa rituals
